For those who still enjoy the morning newspaper while enjoying your first cup of daily caffeine intake, you probably have heard of the popular comic-strip, BIG NATE by Lincoln Pierce, which is featured in over 200 newspapers around the country (and online at gocomics.com). The rambunctious middle schooler recently made the leap from syndicated comic strip to bestselling young-reader book series.
We had the chance to go in-studio with Lincoln Pierce to produce the tour with the help from our friends at Boston Bureau Production. It is always a thrill to see these tours in action with a behind the scenes view and in the end, Lincoln completed a number of interviews including features with some great stations and shows including:

Newman PR Getting WIMPY? Well, not exactly. In fact, Newman is feeling quite bold about its recent work with Jeff Kinney, author of the mega-best selling “DIARY OF A WIMPY KID” series. Newman recently coordinated a Satellite Television Tour for Kinney, helping him virtually tour the country talking about his latest entry in the series “The Ugly Truth“. Audiences in markets such as Denver, Baltimore, San Diego, Detroit, Sacramento, Raleigh, Hartford, Portland, Orlando, among many others enjoyed hearing from Jeff about the book and the growing pains experienced by his main character, Greg Hefley. “The Ugly Truth” is the 5th book in the series — which have sold a total of more than 40 million copies worldwide!!

It’s been quite a ride for Jeff Kinney. In it’s first three days, the book has sold over 700,000 copies and landed at #1 on the NY Times best seller list, putting our former President, George Bush at #2. In 2009, TIME Magazine named him one of the top 100 “Most Influential People” in the world. He also saw an adaption of the book made into a movie and another will be on screen in 2011. This year, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will feature a balloon of Greg Hefley for all to enjoy.

What’s next for Kinney? More entries in the Wimpy Kid series of course! We are sure that millions of Greg Hefley fans just can’t wait to learn what’s in store for him the next time around. Newman will be waiting to in hopes of working with Jeff Kinney again.

American Icon, Mr. Carl Reiner comes to Newman for a book publicity campaign on two new titles, “Just Desserts” and “Tell Me Another Scary Story…..but not too scary”.

In Reiner’s “Just Desserts” successful romance novelist Nat Noland has just had his cage severely rattled. After receiving an email directly from God, Nat just can’t seem to get any work done on his new novel. Follow Nat on his romps around New York City, as he tries to make sense of this divine intervention. With all the slapstick comedy and madcap hijinks that Reiner fans have loved for decades, JUST DESSERTS sparkles with a humor that only the enduring comedic mastermind himself could create.

Tell Me Another Scarey Story

The incomparable Carl Reiner’s first children’s book, Tell Me a Scary Story, was a hit when it appeared in 2003. Here at last is the sequel, TELL ME ANOTHER SCARY STORY…But Not Too Scary!

Kids love scary stories, particularly gross-out ones, and TELL ME ANOTHER SCARY STORY delivers even more of the same. Complete with a read-along CD filled with stuff children love—odd beams of light coming from nowhere, oodles of goopy goo, memorable characters, and mysteries for kids to solve……if they dare.

As the story becomes scarier, Reiner pauses to ask readers, “Shall we turn the page, or is it too scary?” That’s for kids to decide!

Here’s a fun book with delicious thrills that children will ask for again and again.

Newman is doing a full book publicity campaign for Carl which includes radio, TV and print.

About Carl:

Carl Reiner is one of the few true Renaissance persons of 20th-century. Known for his work as creator, writer and producer of The Dick Van Dyke Show, the Emmy award-winning Reiner has touched three generations of American comedy.

In 1957, Reiner conquered another medium when he adapted one of his short stories into Enter Laughing, a semi-autobiographical novel focusing on a struggling actor’s desire to break into show business. In 1963 the book became a hit play.

After directing Enter Laughing in 1967, Reiner went on to do several critically acclaimed films such as The Comic (1969), and Where’s Poppa (1970). Reiner also directed the wildly successful George Burns vehicle Oh, God! (1977). Reiner is also significant for his role as straight man in “The 2,000 Year Old Man” recordings, which he began with Mel Brooks in 1960.

Once again on the cutting edge, Reiner joined forces with Steve Martin as the “wild and crazy” comedian made the transition to film, with Reiner directing The Jerk (1979), The Man With Two Brains (1983), and All of Me (1984).

Most recently Carl has been seen in the Ocean’s Trilogy with George Clooney and Brad Pitt and he starred in the season finale of the TV show House.

Carl Reiner is an inductee of the Television Academy Hall of Fame, recipient of the Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, and a 2008 honoree of the Paley Center for Media.

In the same state the legendary Michael Jordan laced up his Nikes, Chris Paul, also known as CP3, would grow to be another North Carolina basketball prodigy. Although he possessed talent similar to “His Airness,” the not-so-tall Chris Paul would never physically fill the shoes of a giant.

Yet, his lack of height would not stop him from reaching his dreams.

In Chris Paul’s new book LONG SHOT: Never Too Small to Dream Big, the NBA All-Star and Rookie of the Year shares one of his own childhood memories to help inspire young athletes, particularly those who do not physically resemble Shaquille O’Neal.

Prior to the book’s publish date in September, Newman Communications helped draw up a flawless book publicity tour right before the buzzer.

Many kids believe they will grow up to be professional athletes. They envision themselves wearing the same jersey their heroes wear. Chris Paul is one individual who never lost sight of that dream. Although the chances of becoming a famous ball player are incredibly slim, LONG SHOT teaches children the benefits of working hard and always believing in themselves. Whether you are a committed sports fan or not, Paul’s vibrant book aims to help parents teach their children strong life values.

Publicity firm Newman Communications worked hard to spread the court on this tour. The lanes are now open for Chris Paul to go coast to coast with Long Shot’s message.

Listen to Chris’ Radio interview with “The First Word with Gary Williams, Mad Dog Radio on SIRIUS XM”
